First Ever Tuffet Retreat – Waynesville, NC

Have you ever experienced a weekend so full of fun it’s hard to know where to begin sharing?  I spent Friday through Sunday teaching the first ever tuffet workshop at the fabulous Ponderosa Quilt Retreat located in picturesque Waynesville, NC. If you are looking for a small quilt retreat venue, you really need to check out their website:  www.summitquiltretreat.com.  Eight tuffetteers, that’s tuffet-teer, were in attendance arriving Friday afternoon from Orlando, FL; Chicago, IL; Camden, SC; Charlotte, NC and Waynesville.  What a great group of ladies, they sewed, laughed, sewed, ate, sewed, slept, sewed shopped; and sew on.  Happily by noon on Sunday eight beautiful tuffets were ready to travel home with the brand new tuffetteers.

Packing for a tuffet class requires a list to make sure no essential part is left behind.

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my blog about my crazy retirement lifestyle of tuffet-making, quilting, cooking, baking, orchid growing and grandchildren entertainment.   My mother-in-law introduced me to the art of quilt making many years ago.  What started as a pastime grew to a passion not long afterward.   I love all things fiber related but playing with fabric is the most fun of all; throw in a large dose of whimsy and I’m in, hook, line and sinker!   Now you may be able to understand my infatuation with all things tuffet related.

My head is swimming with ideas related to tuffet making, embellishment and design that I would like to share with you for inspiration.  A blog is the perfect vehicle to do just that.  To add a little spin, well maybe a big spin, on the blog I would like to post information about other projects I work on too.  So you may see a tutorial on machine applique or fabric embellishment along with how to make ruffles for a tuffet.  Sound like fun?
